Welcome to the Department of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering (EXTC) at Vidyalankar Institute of Technology (VIT). Established in 2006, our department aims to be recognized as a center of excellence in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering. Initially admitting 60 students, we later expanded our intake to 120. In 2010, we launched a PG course (MTech- E&TC) with an initial intake of 18, which is AICTE-approved, and we established a Ph.D. center in 2024. Our department features a significant infrastructure, well-equipped laboratories, and high-tech computers with high-speed internet, all supported by a team of qualified faculty members, ensuring a world-class educational experience. Our primary goal is to foster a scholarly environment that develops students into competent professionals for the benefit of society. We also organize various co-curricular and extracurricular activities to promote the holistic development of our students. The department received accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for our undergraduate course in 2016 for three years, which was extended in 2019 for an additional three years. We are now permanently affiliated with the University of Mumbai. We are dedicated to training and inspiring our students to contribute positively to the world. Believing in this quote, Electronics and Telecommunication department is committed to bring out immense potential from our students and nurture it to establish harmony with all existence.

Our department is successful in grooming students not only in studies but also in co-curricular, extra-curricular activities. In the past few years, our students made us proud by winning prizes in areas such as Inter-college Project/Poster competition, Inter-college Cultural and Sports competitions and publishing paper in reputed journals.

Technical Activities

The Electronics and Telecommunication Students’ Association (ETSA) plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between industry and academia by organizing a variety of technical events. In addition to ETSA, the department actively engages students through co-curricular activities facilitated by the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (IETE) and the Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE), all aimed at enhancing industry readiness.

Moreover, the establishment of student chapters for IEEE AESS and IEEE GRSS further enriches the learning experience. These chapters focus on capacity building in systems engineering, covering design, development, integration, and operation of complex systems across various environments, including space, air, ocean, and ground, as well as in the fields of geoscience and remote sensing. This comprehensive approach ensures that students are well-equipped for future challenges in their careers.
